Jen Meller is a multidisciplinary filmmaker and photographer with 15 years of media experience. Careers are long and winding roads—Jen's has taken her on quite the journey from industry to industry. The through-line of her work is a love for storytelling. Her experience and expertise ranges from photography, cinematography, illustration, design, art direction, directing and editing.
Jen holds a Master of Fine Arts in Film and Electronic Media (2016) and a Bachelor of Arts in Film and Media Arts (2011), both from American University. Early in life Jen was a dancer, and thrives at incorporating dance and vivacious color into her work. Jen began her career as a fashion photographer, studying under Vogue Fashion Photography, Janusz Kawa. She has shot Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Upon graduating in 2016, Jen began a career shooting and directing music videos. In 2022, Jen shot Ezra Furman’s book None Of Us Ashes depicting Ezra’s trans evolution. Jen has worked with such artists as Breanna Barbara, A Very Special Episode, Sleepy Kitty, My Favorite, and Ilithios. Jen’s photography has been featured in Vogue, Rolling Stone, Elle, and The Washington Post.
Jen's prestigious clients in media have included the likes of A+E Networks, NowThis, Rob Martinez, Julian Mu, NPR, and MLB. Her impressive portfolio also includes collaborations with the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, where she worked on projects featuring renowned artists like Ai Weiwei, Yayoi Kusama, Cristina Iglesias, and Carlos Cruz-Diez.
In 2025 Jen had two films, “Smolder” and “How We’ve Faded” in Nitehawk Film Festival in the Music Driven Shorts category. In 2025 Jen was a part of the team building graphics for Bellingcat: The Hidden War in Gaza and the West Bank, which won a News Emmy for Outstanding Video Journalism.
When she’s not immersed in a project, Jen is likely honing her pizza-making skills, planning a series/ short film, or planning her next international adventure.
